Research and Development Project for the Development and Dissemination of Preventive Behavior Approaches in Tobacco Growers
Research and Development Project for the Development and Dissemination of Protective Behavior Approach in Tobacco Growers is carried out in cooperation with Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Communication. The aim is to define action processes from behavioral scientists to ensure that farmers comply with occupational safety rules and to create behavioral change in the use of personal protective equipment.
It is known that agricultural activities have short- or long-term effects on human health. For example, toxicity from pesticides and respiratory problems are among these threats. For this purpose, industry actors such as professional organizations worldwide recommend measures such as wearing masks, gloves, goggles, and protective equipment. However, labors show resistance to using this personal protective equipment for various reasons.
This study will provide solutions to the problems experienced during the pesticide application of Oriental and Big Leaf (SCV) tobacco, as well as during the harvesting phase of Big Leaf (SCV) tobacco, in terms of various health measures and process improvement options.
